First post - Music Thursday

I guess this will be the most difficult and hence I am going to go for an easy one. This post will be the first in a series of posts I will do on music titled "Music Thursdays". It will feature tunes I think a lot of people will enjoy and that they have not heard before and tunes I love which I expect a lot of others will hate.

First up Clutch - The mob goes wild

What to say about Clutch, they have been going since 1990 and musically have evolved from a stoner rock band with a grungey/punk edge to a much more blues/country feel with each album. They have always been able to grind out unbelievable catchy and funky riffs. I Have chosen the lead single from the first album I purchased of theirs in 2004 there classic Blast Tyrant album. I would recommend Clutch to anyone and its a tragedy that they have never had greater exposure.

Second up and on a slight different note are a group that I have recently discovered Gangstarr - full clip

I love this tune, the beat is infectious and the lyrics and vocal delivery brilliant.

And finally a tune that I guess that most of you will hate (and will have never have heard off) Iron Monkey - Sleep to win.

This is a band I discovered when I was 16 and they blew my mind away. Never have I heard such visceral despair and nihilism come out of a speaker. It is pure undistilled rage in musical form. This track is slower than a lot of their other stuff but more powerful. Strangely I find it quite calming, as it has a slightly hypnotic quality to it. This is sludge at its finest, building slowly with grinding riffs of awesome power. Sublime.
